Land for Wildlife is part of the Species and Communities Branch with the Department of Parks and Wildlife. We have experienced officers placed at different regional centres throughout the state to provide advice and assistance about nature conservation.
Land for Wildlife is a voluntary scheme that aims to encourage and assist private landholders to provide habitats for wildlife on their property, even though the property may be primarily managed for other purposes.
Resources
There are many resources available to help landholders learn about weeds, native plants, native animals and conservation management. Here are some developed by Land for Wildlife agencies in SEQ.
There are over 30 fact sheets available on native mammals, birds, amphibians, freshwater fish and reptiles available from this Brisbane City Council webpage. Animals include Platypus, Gliders, Owls, Flying foxes, Crakes & Rails, Raptors, Frogs and the Collared Delma.
